The ways in which rocks break down is basic to an understanding of Earth's sedimentary landforms. Slides show the hydrologic cycle, mechanisms of mechanical and chemical weathering, and how they relate to the rock cycle. Other slides show the weathering of igneous rock, origin of slumps, cross section of soil types and where they are found, examples of erosional landforms and features, horizontal and vertical jointing, talus slopes, spallation, exfoilation, cliff and slope formations, arcuate slumps, rocks and landslides creep, soil formation, and classic erosional structures that distinguish some of the nation's National Monuments and Parks.
