This slide set is an extension of WMSGSG07(The Milky Way Slide Set). The set begins with Lord Ross' sketch of M51, the first account of spiral structure in a galaxy. The Andromeda Galaxy and an enlarged section with Cephied variables show Hubble's determination of its distance. Several Hubble slides show typical examples of type S, SB, SO, SBO, E, and Irr galaxies. Also shown are peculiar and interacting galaxies with explanatory graphics as well as active galaxies and quasars.
